DataServices World Fall 2008 in Silicon Valley
DataServices World, an event that highlights data services for SOAM WOA, grid and cloud computing, will run November 20, 2008 in San Jose, California. Dr. Michael Carey, one of the 50 most influential computer scientists, heads up a speaker lineup that includes thought leaders from Adobe, IBM, m2mi, Yahoo, Netrics, salesforce.com and Thomson Reuters. Rob Steward, Vice President for Research and Development at DataDirect Technologies, will be giving the keynote address.
RDFStats Beta 1.1 Released
Andreas Langegger announced a new RDFStats beta version is available. RDFStats is a freely-downloadable tool for generating statistics about datasets behind SPARQL endpoints.
Mulgara Version 2.0.5 Semantic Store Arrives
The Mulgara Project has produced several minor updates for version 2.0, with the latest being version 2.0.5. Mulgara is an open source semantic store, programmed in Java, that's available with the Open Software License version 3.0.
Web 3.0 Conference to Run in October
Jupitermedia is following the Spring LinkedData Planet conference with a Web 3.0 conference set to run in Santa Clara on 16-17 October 2008. The focus of the event is Semantic Web and Linked Data business strategies. The call for speakers closes on August 8.
Berners-Lee and Publishing Databases in Spotlight at LinkedData Planet
The LinkedData Planet conference had a successful 2-day launch at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on June 17-18, 2008. The conference attracted thought leaders among the linked data and semantic technologies communities. Panel discussions, presentations and keynotes provided insight into the future of web and database technology. Keynote speakers Ian Davis, Kingsley Idehen, Anant Jhingran, and Atanas Kiryakov delivered informative and entertaining keynotes. On June 17, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, originator of the World Wide Web, delivered a keynote address about the Web of Data.

MySpace Announces Data Availability Interfaces
The MySpace Data Availability Project includes application program interfaces (APIs) and documentation that enables web site developers to use social data outside the MySpace domain. The MySpace APIs support REST services that comply with OpenSocial and OAuth authentication. MySpace users will be able to access a dash board to see a list of sites that are accessing their data.
